solstice yoga
The solstice yoga days are designed to deepen your practice and give you a chance to unwind deeply while creatively connecting with the seasons.I very much hope you will join me on this journey deeper into yoga.
What will we do?
Each workshop will contain a range of activities designed to deepen your yoga practice. They will include:
- Spotlight on a pose
- Yoga philosophy
- Meditation
- Formal breathing practices
- Seasonal focus
- Creative exploration
- Space to take things at your pace
Spotlight on a pose
When we do yoga a lot it is easy to think you have ‘got’ a pose. Spending time deconstructing a pose gives time for personal reflection and growth as we learn about our body habits and how to get more out of each pose. Sometimes a minor change can make a lasting difference. This will involve each of us having time to look at our own version of this pose.
Yoga Philosophy
Yoga has a formal system of morality and understanding the world. Whether you buy into one idea or all of them this aspect will give us time to focus on taking our yoga deeper.
Formal breathing practices
Yogic breathing practices can warm, cool, soothe and cleanse the body. We will learn a different breathing practice each time as well as having time to focus on breath awareness in general.
Meditation & mantra
Yoga has a formal system of morality and understanding the world. Whether you buy into one idea or all of them this aspect will give us time to focus on taking our yoga deeper.
Seasonal focus
Nature’s ever-changing cycles are a great teacher and healer. We will focus on the signs of the season and the energetic strengths and challenges. This will help us to learn how to look after ourselves in tune with the seasons.
Creative exploration
We will use simple art techniques to record and respond to our experiences within the practice. You don’t need to have any artistic experience, just a willingness to open up. If you do have art experience you need the same willingness – to let go of expectation, perfectionism and find your way to communicate this experience to yourself.
Take things at your own pace
Whether you want to move more or less there will be a place for you to follow your own energy within the workshop.
Focus on what your next steps are
Personal practice is the bedrock to yoga, however, finding a sustaining practice that you can commit to can be inordinately difficult. We will spend time exploring what is right for you.
