Yoga & Insomnia

‘Insomnia means you regularly have problems sleeping. It usually gets better by changing your sleeping habits.’  NHS

Insomnia is very frustrating and unhelpful routine and mental patterns can play a significant role.  The main concern is over stimulating the mind and body in the evening and thus, even if raising energy and feeling enjoyable, sleep becomes more elusive. Be careful with exciting things for some hours before bed – that could be scary, enjoyable things or mental stimulating projects or ideas.

Do

  • Practice yoga breathing, relaxation and yoga nidra before bedtime or during the night should you be wakeful.

Don’t

  • Practice stimulating yoga sequences or many backbends in the evening.
